The American University of Beirut received the largest donation in its history from Arab-American businessman Jamal Daniel.

Daniel is a founder of the Levant Foundation - a charity which focuses on the Middle East. Several members of his family are alumni of the school and Daniel has stated in a press release that he "was humbled to have the opportunity to reinforce [his] family’s long history with this academic pillar in the Levant."

People donate to those they trust and, using Prospect Visual we can see that Jamal Daniel also has several other connections to the AUB. These, along with his family connections may have played a significant role in influencing his donation.
